When their pricing structure is subscription-based, this means that I'm losing time and money because their application is buggy and won't run. There is also a note that "you will be billed automatically" after the initial 3-month subscription, and there is no clear way to turn off auto-billing or auto-renewal of this so-called "subscription", because right now I definitely do not want to renew it, since it's essentially unusable.UPDATE: Finally got the application to launch - I had to run Steam as an administrator. Loaded some images (an image set that I've previously run with RC) and the app promptly crashed due to a "mini dump". I've been working with photogrammetry for the past 5-6 years, using primarily Agisoft Photoscan. Naturally, I jumped at the chance to test out a new software that claimed to be faster and more accurate. At first, all was great, despite the weird user interface and random crashes and sometimes inaccurate-looking models. There's no doubt that it's a very fast software: it can do in 30 minutes what it takes photoscan a couple hours to process. However, and it's a big however, I'm not convinced of the "accuracy" of this software's results, and the developers have shown themselves to be very arrogant, time and again.So, in short, I've been using this software for almost a year: I have experience with it. In some respects it's great, but overall, between their pricing strategy and general attitude, I just get a bad vibe from it. If you're a professional who makes more than 80k per year from laser- and photo-scanning, it might be a good investment, but for the STEAM community, which is mostly made up of hobbyists and independent developers, I can't in good conscience recommend this software over any number of open-source or cheaper, non-rentware programs.. An incredible piece of software. It's amazing that it allows me to do so much of what frankly still seems like voodoo magic to me for a fair price. RealityCapture has made quality photogrammetry accessible to me and as a result I have been able to work on a solo effort that has become my graduation project in journalism at the University of São Paulo. Cheers to the RC team (Simon Che de Boer spoke well of you guys when I interviewed him!). I highly not recommend this garbage! It's not the fastest software which they claim. I paid this software (PAID!). When i want to export orthophoto, first i have to send them to statistics. Because they export my creations in return for some statistics in this version... It's very slow also and very difficult to use. Orthophoto and model quality very low. I want to write more things about "softwarish" thing. But it's waste of time!! I want to give a chance despite of other comments but they were right!. This is a small team that does try very hard to make any problems right with the user. I can say even though I have been what most would consider rude, they still remained pofessional and made it right. This does not give you a pass to be rude ;)It is also the fastest photogrammety software out there!. This is amazing software - I prefer it much more than its competitors at the moment, mainly for it's processing power. With the competition, even if they allow for over 50 camera shots (for entry-level purchases), throwing 2k pictures at a scene takes an impossibly long time to generate results with the competition - with RC you can have some decent output in half the time or less. It's so good in fact that collecting scenes has widened from 'a good deal of planning onto collect the right pictures to re-assemble a scene' to include scenes that I can do ad-hoc in 20 minutes or less handheld. I can blow through a few of those a day with RC, and simply don't have enough time to try these 'fun' scenes out with other software. Like all photogrammetry software, however, there is a steep learning curve that requires a lot of research and knowledge in a lot of different areas - if you're willing to ride that learning curve out, it will reward you with magical results.. does whats advertised, creates good models from photos, is simple to use.Have occasionally had issues with stitching the model together, however i expect its due to either changing light conditions or not enough photos as reference.. When it runs, the software gives excellent results but it often won't run. I've been using RealityCapture for a year or so now and enjoy its speed and the quality of the reconstructions. However, I have had issues with the Steam version, it often crashes or loses connection to Steam, causing me to lose my work. But I recommend you purchase it from their website, not the steam version.. At $10 per month, this was affordable at my hobby level . Not using It everyday but only for a small project here and there . $40 per month equals $480 per year And that is out of the price range for my hobby The Competition's software will Do everything I need. So will free offerings. Perhaps they need different price levels.. This is a good product - I have used it to create hires scans of clay models. Managed to get geo representations of fingerprints in the cla and even smaller.
